●  British Government introduced UTC (University Training Core) in order to develop Good Officers for Armed Forces.

●  1925, UTC's Name changed to UOTC (University Officers Training Core)

●  UOTC did not work up to expectations.

●  1946, under watch of Pandit  Hradaynath Kunjaru, NCC Committee (National cadet core) was created.

●  1947, Committee submitted report of NCC to Government.

●  Government Passed bill in Parliament and in April,1948- Government introduced NCC Act and NCC came into Existence on 16th, July, 1948. it reached Schools and Universities of India.

● Motto of NCC is ' Unity and Discipline ' adopted on 23, December, 1957.

●  Under NCC Act NCC Directorate was created and Command of NCC was given to Colonel Rank Officer and the name for the place was given Director.

●  As NCC expanded the command of Director was transferred to Brigadier Rank Officer in 1954, later to Major General rank officer in 1961.



●  1962, Name Director was changed to Director General.

● 1982, Command of NCC was given to lieutenant General rank officer.

● Central Advisory Committee was created to give advice about NCC Formation and Administration. Committee includes following Members
         1) Defense Minister 
         2) Secretary of Defense
         3) Secretary of Education 
         4) Financial adviser
     5) Chief of Armed Forces(Army, Navy, Air force)
         6) 2 Mem. Selected by Parliament 
         7) 5 Mem. Selected by Government.


●  1949, Girls Division of NCC was created.

●  1950, Air wing Added to NCC.

●  1952, Naval wing became part of NCC.

● 1960, NCC Rifle was created.

● 1963, NCC Training was made mandatory.

●  On 2nd, April- 1964 NCC and NCC Rifle were merged.

     2) Dark blue Colour stands for Navy
     3) Sky blue Colour stands for Air force
     4) The 16 wreath of lotus represents 16 Directorate of NCC
