●  Warren Hastings (1773 to 1785)
    • He became the Governor of Bengal in 1772 and first Governor General of Bengal in 1773. 

    • He abolished the Dual System of Administration.

    • Divided Bengal into districts and Appointed Collectors and other revenue Officers.

   • Established India's first Supreme Court Calcutta.
    • Started Diwani and Faujdari adalats.
    • He redefined Hindu and Muslim Laws.

    • Two War was fought during his Period.
        1) 1st Anglo-Maratha War - 1776-1782.(ended with treaty of Salbai)
        2) 2nd Anglo-Mysore War - 1780-1784.(ended with treaty of Mangalore. 


●  Lord Cornwallis (1786-1793)

    • First person to codify Laws -1793. The Code separated the revenue administration from the justice administration.

    • He introduced Izaredari System in 1773.

    • He started permanent settlement of Bengal.
    • He is called as ' The Father of Civil Services ' in India.
    • He Created the post of 'District Judge'.
    • 3rd Anglo-Mysore War( Treaty of Seringapatnam)


●  Sir John Shore (1793-1798)

    • Introduced First Charter Act-1793
    • Battle of Kharla between Nizam and Marathas - 1759


●  Lord Wellesey ( 1798-1803)

   • He knows as Bengal Tiger.
    • 1800 - He set-up Fort William College.
    • He introduced the cencorship of Press Act, 1799.
    • 2nd Anglo-Maratha War
    • 4th Anglo-Mysore war -1799.

●  Sir George Barlow (1805-1807)

    • Vellore Mutiny -1806(by soldiers)
    • Anglo-Maratha War Ended. 


●  Lord Minto - 1 (1807-1813)

    • 1809 - Treaty of Amritsar with Ranjit Singh.
    • Charter Act - 1813(Ended Monopoly of Company in India).


●  Lord Hastings (1813-1823)

    • Anglo-Nepal War - 1813-1823.


●  Lord Amherst (1823-1828)

    • 1st Burmese War - 1824-1826
    • Barrackpore Mutiny - 1824.
    • Capture of Bharatpur - 1826.
