●  In the AD 17th-18th centuries India became a centre of attraction for  many European Nations. Given Nations came India for Trading. 

 ●  Portuguese
     • 17,May,1498 -  Vasco da Gama Came to India. Who was the first European who reached India.
    • 1505 AD - Almeida - The first Governor of Portuguese in India. He built a fort at Anjadiva Mannaur and Cochin.
    • Albuquerque who was the second governor built territorial Power in India.
    • Cochin was the capital of Portuguese in India , later replaced by Goa. 
  

●  Dutch
    • 1602, Dutch East India Company was formed and Dutch Parliament by a charter, gave it powers to make Wars.
    • The Dutch set-up Factories at given place
            1) Masulipatnam (1605)
            2) Pulicut (1610)
            3) Surat (1616)
            4) Bimilipatnam (1641)
            5) karikal (1645) 
     And some more.
    • Dutch power ended in India with the defeat of Battle of Bedara in 1759 against British. 
   


●  English
    • 1600 - English East India Company was founded.
    • 31,December, 1600 - Queen Elizabeth granted the monopoly of Eastern Trade to Company.
    • Jahangir permitted the East India Company to establish factories at several places in the Empire. The company establish factories at Agra, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Broach, Bombay, Surat and Masulipatnam and some more.
    • 1668 - The Island of Bombay was acquired by the company from the British Government.
    • The First Factory of English was established at Surat in 1612.



●  Danish
    • 1616 - Danish East India Company was founded.
    • Danish established settlement at Bengal (serampur) in 1676 and at Tamilnadu (Tranqueber) in 1620.
  

●  French
    • 1664 - The French East India Company was founded.
    • 1669 - The first French factory established at Surat.
    • 1760 - British Defeated French. Also known as Battle of Wandiwash.
