-> The last Hindu king of Delhi was Hemu, The journey of being Hem Chandra Vikramaditya from Hemu is shared briefly in this post.

-> The story started when Humayun, the son of Mughal empire’s founder (Babar) lost the war against the Sher Shah Suri in 1540.

-> The Sher Shah Suri established a Sur Empire. The second Afghan dynasty to rule Delhi.

-> He died in 1545. The succession was passed to his younger son Islam Shah Suri. He was a capable ruler, until he was alive, Humayun could not capture the Delhi.

-> After his death in 1554, The Firoz Shah was true heir to the throne but soon he was murdered by his maternal uncle, who acquired the throne as Adil Shah Suri.

 ->Adil Shah was a man of pleasure and never shows interest on state affairs. The state affairs were left to the Hemu, an old Hindu associate of Sher Shah.

 -> Hemu had secured the position of Chief Minister as well as the general of suri army.

-> With Adil Shah’s doing, many rebellion successors came but no one could secure their place and finally when Sikandar Suri came to rule, the empire was weakened enough.

-> The Humayun took full advantage of that and regained what he had lost. He became the king again.

-> Humayun died in 1556, he was succeeded by Akbar, his son.  

-> The Hemu was in Bengal. The death of Humayun made an ideal situation for Hemu to defeat Mughals. He started march from Bengal towards north and drove the Mughals out of

Banaya,

Lakhna,

Etawah,

Bharthana,

Bindhuna,

Narnaul 

kalpi.

-> Hemu was an excellent leader, he won 22 battles while serving Suri dynasty.

-> Hemu won Agra, as Akbar’s commander fled the city without fighting.

-> He then marched towards Delhi and on 6 Oct 1556 a war had been fought.

-> The Hemu’s army encountered Mughal resistance, after a fierce fight Akbar’s forces were thrown out.

-> Targi beg, the commander of the Mughal forces fled out of Delhi.

-> Hemu won the battle, and with this, he established Hindu rule in North India after 350 years.

-> He then took the throne of Delhi on 7 October 1556.

-> He gained the royal title of Hem Chandra Vikramaditya.
